On a recent holiday to Malaysia, Narada took the opportunity to head out to the world famous Sepang F1 Circuit and actually got to drive around the thing! I’m a pure nut when it comes to race tracks and driving on them. For me, there is nothing more exciting than driving on a new race track, especially those that you watch F1 drivers drive on. So when I recently planned a short trip to Malaysia for a wedding, I just had to visit Sepang, and if possible, drive on it too. While looking up on their website, I noticed they held track days, usually on Sundays. For only RM200 (that’s around AUD70), you get a good 4 hours access to the track – bargain! For such a high standard track, that is remarkably accessible. It’s not even that easy to get onto Eastern Creek! The last thing I had to do was organise a car. Unfortunately, I left it to the very last minute, so I ended up getting a Proton Wira hire car – not the most glamorous of machines, but it did the job! Wanna try it yourself? Flights to Malaysia via Air Asia can be very cheap, however they only depart from either Melbourne or Gold Coast. I paid around $600 all up in return flights, including connecting flights. The Proton ended up costing around $60 Aussie, and doesn’t get all that much more expensive for faster, more refined cars. So if you are planning a trip to SE Asia, make sure you stop off in Malaysia – its definitely the best country in the area for a petrolhead like myself! |
